HEED-240 Death and Dying

This course discusses issues of death, dying, and bereavement from the perspectives of psychology, sociology, religion, spirituality, and culture. Topics include attitudes towards death; suicide; euthanasia; hospice movement and end-of-life care; working with people who have terminal illnesses; bereavement counseling; the funeral business; how religions understand death; psychology of death; Students become more aware about the cultural implications of death, dying, and bereavement, and reflect on their own values and attitudes toward life and death.
