PTAP-270 Clinical Education III

This course consists of a full-time clinical rotation at one clinical site. The student will apply skills and knowledge from all previous coursework to patient care with the purpose of developing entry-level clinical competency. Clinical competencies will be continued. An oral presentation will be presented to the staff. The clinical site may require travel away from the local region, including out-of-state.

Notes

Students are required to provide their own transportation to and from the varied clinical sites. Students must also be available for a clinical schedule that may include, but is not limited to extended hours, alternate days, evenings, and/or weekends. The clinical schedule listed is a representation of one of the possible scheduling options.

Course Objectives

  1. 1. Demonstrate appropriate and effective verbal, nonverbal, and written communication with
    other health care professionals, patients, and families.
  2. 2. Provide the application of time-management and resource utilization with an increasing
    caseload of patients under the supervision of the clinical instructor.
  3. 3. Provide physical therapy interventions to a variety of patients in a safe and effective manner.
  4. 4. Develop and present an in-service to a clinical staff
  5. 5. Recognize when a change in the plan of care may be indicated and communicate the reasons
    accurately to the supervising Physical Therapist.
  6. 6. Complete an effective self-assessment of technical and inter-personal skills.
