Ongoing Involvement in Research
In
addition to the 2 full-time mentored research experiences (3 credits each) in
each of the first two summers, students are also expected to be continuously involved
in discussing, planning, and conducting research with a mentor and/or research
group throughout the entire program. Such ongoing participation in research
should begin as soon as the student identifies a research mentor and/or
research group to work with and will typically serve as the basis for his/her
required presentation each semester at the weekly Research Seminar. Ultimately
this ongoing involvement in research will lead to planning and conducting the
studies comprising the student’s dissertation.
