NP-778 Fam&Grp Psychother Int: Lfspn

Prerequisites: NP-733, NP-845, NP-762, RN Status. Pass/Fail, audit not available. Exploration of evidence based data in relation to the theoretical foundations and effectiveness of group and family psychotherapy as treatment modalities in psychiatric-mental health nursing across the lifespan. Group treatment modalities include: activity group approaches for children/ adolescents, and supportive, psychodynamic, and reminiscence group approaches for the adult/ elderly population including physical, interpersonal, and recent developments in holistic approaches to care. Traditional and emerging family intervention modalities will address mental health issues across the family life cycle. The course aims to prepare the student to conduct group and family psychotherapy.
