PA-738 Essentials of Gastroenterology

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Semester 2 courses. This course provides students with a comprehensive look at the diagnosis and management of common gastrointestinal diseases and conditions, beginning with  normal anatomy and physiology followed by pathophysiology, genetic manifestations, and epidemiology.  Students will then explore risk factors, signs, symptoms, and diagnostic studies that provide the foundation for the diagnosis and treatment, including pharmacotherapeutics, of common gastrointestinal conditions. Concepts  of prevention, patient education, chronic disease management, and follow-up will be covered.
