MATH-061 Basic Algebra and Geometry
Students will be simplifying numeric expressions with exponents, combining like terms, simplifying polynomials, evaluating algebraic expressions, using commutative, associative and distributive properties, solving linear equations and inequalities, solving and graphing lines, investigating slope and the x- and y- intercepts. Systems of equations will be solved graphically and algebraically. They will also become familiar with elementary topics in geometry. ENGL 093 and MATH 060 or appropriate score on the placement test. FYEX-100 is recommended for all developmental math students. All sections require the use of the interactive computer program that comes with the text.(6 hours weekly).
