DMSU-282 Vascular Ultrasound II
This course will focus on carotid and peripheral vascular, arterial, and venous Doppler. Pathology, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, noninvasive techniques, and interpretation will be discussed. The students will have the opportunity to reinforce the theory taught in lecture with hands-on scanning in the lab component to this course. This course is required to complete the vascular concentration of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
Hours Weekly
2.5 hours theory, 2 hours on-campus lab weekly
Course Objectives
- 1. Demonstrate proper assessment of pathologic conditions of the cerebrovascular system.
- 2. Demonstrate proper assessment of pathologic conditions of the central and peripheral arterial
system. - 3. Demonstrate proper assessment of pathologic conditions of the central and peripheral venous
system. - 4. Evaluate vascular disease using the patient clinical history.
- 5. Differentiate between the common types of vascular exams performed in ultrasound imaging
departments. - 6. Compare Doppler with color for vascular testing.
- 7. Demonstrate arterial testing.
