HMDV 161 STEM Seminar II
This is the second course in a series of four one-credit courses designed to develop skills needed by Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) majors in their classes and later in their careers. STEM Seminar II focuses on teamwork, communications and ethics in the sciences. Students get to experience teamwork as they work in pairs on a competitive project for the end of the semester. Field trips and activities beyond the classroom are also planned. Enrollment is recommended for those with STEM majors.
Course Objectives
- 1. Recognize, describe, and use various styles of communication.
- 2. Work in a team to create an innovative and imaginative means of doing a task using creative analysis and problem-solving methods.
- 3. Assess, reflect, and critically analyze your/your team’s creative process and products.
- 4. Develop techniques to help deal with the challenges of working in teams.
- 5. Identify ethical issues in mathematics and science context and content areas and apply ethical perspectives in dealing with these.
