MLTS 253 Immunology/Immunohematology Clinical Practice

Immunology/Immunohematology Clinical Practice consists of an internship at a sponsoring serology and blood bank laboratory clinical site. Supervised activities in areas of blood and body fluid immunologic analysis are meant to enhance the student's medical laboratory knowledge base with emphasis on professionalism, safety, problem-solving, and quality assurance.

  1. 1. Perform laboratory procedures in compliance with protocols utilized in a clinical serology and blood
    bank laboratory.
  2. 2. Compare and interpret normal versus abnormal results.
  3. 3. Evaluate the need for follow-up testing when abnormal results are encountered.
  4. 4. Demonstrate compliance with professional and safety protocols.
  5. 5. Evaluate pre- and post-analytical processes encountered in the clinical laboratory.
