MUSC 112M Applied Music for Pre-Music Majors

This course is a preparatory course for students who wish to major in Music but cannot yet perform required instrumental/vocal repertoire for MUSC 117. Students enrolled in this course are required to take a jury at the end of semester, fulfill concert attendance and production support requirements, and register for MUSC 112L at the same time.

Course Objectives

  1. 1. Perform repertoire at the appropriate level for the respective instrument or voice as preparation to the approach required for college-level study.
  2. 2. Perform a mandatory jury examination for the instructor and a panel of music instructors in which the following is demonstrated at the appropriate level: excellent tone, phrasing, rhythm, stylistic understanding, intonation, and musical sensitivity.
  3. 3. Demonstrate an intermediate level of technical proficiency in the performance of scales, etudes, or other exercises as outlined in the Music Student Handbook.
