MUSC 161 Introduction to Music Therapy and Practice - Part I

Introduction to Music Therapy and Practice, Parts I and II, is a two-semester sequence designed to introduce students to the profession of Music Therapy. In this course, students will study basic concepts of Music Therapy including definition, history, man as a musical being, the functions of music, and the use of music as a treatment tool. Students will also study the concepts of the treatment process and research as it applies to music therapy. Students will begin a Music Therapy Professional Portfolio.
