RADT 252 Clinical Radiography V

This course is an advanced clinical practicum which will provide supervised experience in a clinical agency; comprehensive application of previously taught skills and concepts in preparation for entry into practice.

Course Objectives

1. 1. Analyze and correlate procedure requests and clinical information provided by a physician or patient, or
   both, for procedure determination of the appropriate exam, its extent, and its scope.
2. 2. Evaluate the physical and emotional status pf the patient with respect to the ability to undergo the
   procedure requested.
3. 3. Select, prepare, and operate radiography equipment and accessories to perform procedures.
4. 4. Position the patient to best demonstrate anatomy of interest, while respecting the patient’s
   physical limitations and comfort.
5. 5. Determine radiographic exposure factors and demonstrate accurate setting of factors on control
   and application of x-ray exposures.
6. 6. Apply principles of radiation protection to minimize radiation exposure to patient, self, and
   others.
7. 7. Evaluate images for technical quality.
8. 8. Perform noninterpretive fluoroscopic procedures according to institutional policy.
9. 9. Demonstrate oversight of image processing standards and the appropriate labeling of images.
10. 10. Following legal and ethical standards, administer contrast media after consultation with, and
    under the supervision of, a physician.
11. 11. Demonstrate knowledge and skills relating to quality assurance.
12. 12. Exercise independent judgment and discretion in the technical performance of medical imaging
    procedures.
