THET 265 Acting Shakespeare

This course will introduce students to the acting techniques employed to perform the works of William Shakespeare. Topics will include scansion, voice and diction, period movement, historical overview, and stage to screen performances. Students will demonstrate their performance skills through memorized monologues and scenes. Students will participate in a public performance event at HCC, performing Shakespeare pieces learned in class.

  3. 3. Demonstrate basic knowledge of the International Phonetic Alphabet.
  4. 4. Perform memorized Shakespeare monologues and scenes.
  5. 5. Demonstrate period movement skills.
  6. 6. Perform a thorough vocal and physical warm-up.
  7. 7. Analyze professional actors’ performance of a Shakespeare play.
