OFFI 275 Office Simulation

After successful completion of this capstone course, students will demonstrate professional level skills using word processing, spreadsheet, communication, database, internet browser, and presentation software to complete administrative tasks typically found in a business setting. This learned skill set will include organizational time and project management techniques and interpersonal skills that are paramount in today's business setting. This course may be completed in fewer than 14 weeks. All work for this course (except tests) may be done outside of class.

Course Objectives

  1. Explain and demonstrate the proper procedures for processing and managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, both paper and electronic.
  2. Demonstrate the proper use of various communication models.
  3. Demonstrate proper procedures for handling travel arrangements and meeting communications.
  4. Demonstrate time and project management skills using problem-solving techniques.
  5. Demonstrate past knowledge and skills previously acquired in program requirements and apply them in current practical administrative situations.
  6. Demonstrate via course work and assessments the desirable behavior patterns, work habits,
    attitudes, and sense of responsibility for the completion of jobs without close supervision.
