PTAP 255 Clinical Correlations for Physical Therapy

This course will focus on the use of clinical correlations to enhance clinical decision making in the field of physical therapy. Material from all other PTA courses will be integrated into class activities that focus on problem-based learning, clinical scenarios, and interactive learning. Students will apply information from multiple sources to address open-ended clinical problems.

Course Objectives

  1. Analyze the information within an initial evaluation in order to create a safe and effective daily treatment plan.
  2. Utilize evidence-based guidelines for patient management in clinical scenarios.
  3. Integrate information related to various systems when determining the best course of action for a given clinical problem.
  4. Demonstrate the ability to modify a treatment session in response to changes in the clinical status of a patient.
  5. Apply established clinical practice guidelines to individual patient cases in order to optimize patient care and outcomes.
  6. Demonstrate the ability to access and incorporate current best evidence from various resources when considering an open-ended clinical problem.
