9.2.8 Reinstatement Policy
Students who have withdrawn or been academically dismissed from the program can petition for reinstatement within 12 months from their last date of attendance. Individuals interested in petitioning must submit the following in writing to the PA Admissions Committee at least three months in advance of the start of the next cohort:
A formal request, in writing, to be reinstated to the PA program. This should include:
- A statement detailing the circumstances that led to withdrawal/dismissal.
- Documentation of concrete steps taken to identify and address those circumstances.
- Detailed description of changes they would initiate if reinstated to the program along with a list of supports and resources they would engage to ensure their success.
Completion of the above does not guarantee reinstatement. The petitioner may be asked to meet in person with the committee. The petitioner’s entire academic record, their efforts since leaving the program, and likelihood of success in the program if reinstated will all be under consideration. The committee will forward their recommendation to the Program Director for a final decision. Decisions will be made within 14 days of receipt of the petition. The timing of re-entry, if a petition is approved, will be dependent upon the availability of seats in the program. A petitioner approved for reinstatement may be required to demonstrate competency in certain content areas and/or repeat parts or all of the program. In cases of an approved petition for reinstatement, an individualized reinstatement plan will be provided along with the decision.
