HE 931 Adv Assessment in HPEd

Prerequisite: Enrollment in PhD in Health Professions Education program and completion of HE-902. This course is for graduate learners aspiring to use assessment methods to advance educational research. It relies heavily on quantitative approaches; but incorporates some qualitative methods. It emphasizes appropriate research designs for studying assessment methods in HPEd, including cutting-edge contributions from the literature. Topics include rater considerations in scoring performance, advanced psychometric considerations, consensus methods, mastery vs competency assessment, learning curves, and workplace-based assessment. The final project integrates course concepts into a doctoral-level scholarship-related topic.
