4.5.2 Summative Assessment

Prior to beginning the externship year, all students are required to successfully complete a summative assessment. The exact requirements for this assessment may change from year to year, but often, students complete a written exam and an in-person demonstration of clinical skills. The parameters for the assessment will be shared with students during the fall semester of their second year. The assessments take place during the summer semester of the third year.

A score of 80% or higher is required to proceed to the externship year. Students who fail any part of the summative assessment may retake that section within a period of time specified by the AuD faculty. A one-semester period of remedial instruction may be required.  A second failure will result in dismissal from the program.
