LANG486E Workshop/Using Music and Movement to Teach Adult ESL
Teachers and tutors of secondary and adult English language learners in the U.S. and in international settings explore ways to adapt music and kinesthetic activities to the adult ESL classroom. The role of music and movement in developing English listening, speaking, reading and writing as well as communicative competence are explored. The important role of music in family literacy programs and in encouraging parental involvement in schools are discussed. Ways to develop lesson plans, locate suitable materials, and honor learners' cultural funds of knowledge are discussed and practiced. Prerequisite(s): none 1 quarter hour OR 1 semester hour
