Applied Economics Major, Liberal Arts

Liberal Arts Studies students may select a major in Applied Economics. The Applied Economics major provides an overview of both micro- and macro-economics and the history of economic thought. A required internship course helps students gain practical workplace experience in economics. Specializations in world economics and quantitative economics allow students to tailor their major to their own interests.

This major requires:

  • 45 QH including Applied Economics courses taken as part of the General Education requirement
  • 25 QH of upper level coursework
  • 15 QH of the upper level courses must be taken at NLU
  • A minimum grade of “C” for each course in the major
  • A specialization in either World Economics OR Quantitative Economics
