Graduate Transfer Credit
Recommendations for graduate credit are not acceptable at the undergraduate level. It may, however, be possible to transfer graduate credit into a graduate program. Students must fill out a
student adjustment form to request graduate transfer credit. The faculty advisor will review the content of the course and determine whether it is equivalent to a program course and recommend that it be accepted or denied for transfer.
The following criteria apply to graduate transfer credit:
- No transfer is automatic
- The transferred course must have provided bona fide graduate credit that would have fulfilled graduate degree requirements at the institution at which the course was taken
- The credit must not have been used toward a degree which was awarded
- The credit may be for graduate work completed at NLU or elsewhere for which a degree was not awarded
- Courses with a grade below “B” cannot be used for transfer credit. A “Pass” grade for a completed pass/fail graduate course is acceptable if it can be verified that the Pass grade equals a “B” or better.
- Transfer credit may be prohibited or limited in certain academic programs
