Social Work Minor

The Social Work Minor will broaden students’ knowledge and skill sets in the area of Social Work values, theories, practice principles and their use on micro, mezzo and macro system levels in diverse settings. Students will    learn and engage in social work processes, collaborative problem-solving, direct practice, advocacy and community organizing that leverages the strengths and capacities of individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities. Students will have the opportunity to take courses focused in either providing direct services or engaging in advocacy and policy practice.

This minor is offered in a fully online and blended formats.

Social Work Minor Details:

  • Requires 30 QH for completion
  • Requires completion of one of the tracks:
    • Direct Practice, or
    • Advocacy and Policy
  • Requires completion of 15 QH at NLU. transfer credit can be applied toward the minor from the Social Work program accredited through CSWE
  • Requires completion of all courses in the minor with a grade of "C" or better
