Long Term Care Administration Concentration (Advanced Standing Concentration that can be applied toward GR degrees)

The Long-Term Care Administration concentration provides students enrolled in the B.S. in Health Care Leadership, B.S. in Management, B.A. in Applied Behavioral Sciences, B.A. in Human Services, or the B.A. in Business Administration programs with additional training related to the administration of long-term care facilities in which both medical and non-medical care is provided to individuals with chronic illnesses and disabilities.

Coursework in the concentration is also aligned with the content of the Nursing Home Administrators (NHA) Licensing Examination administered by the National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB), including resident-centered care and quality of life, human resources, finance, environment, and leadership and management of long-term care facilities.

Students interested in pursuing a profession that requires a license or certification are encouraged to research all eligibility requirements for licensure or certification, as requirements vary by state and are subject to change.

This concentration is available in a fully online and blended formats. 

Concentration Details: 

  • Requires 20 QH for completion
  • Requires a minimum grade of “C” for each course in the concentration
  • Credit for Prior Learning may be accepted toward all courses in the concentration

Advanced standing requirements: 

Students completing the advanced standing courses in the Long-Term Care Administration concentration are eligible to have these courses applied to degree requirements both in their current undergraduate program and, upon meeting eligibility criteria and acceptance, to the specifically designed NLU graduate program. This concentration serves as an advanced pathway to the Master of Health Services Administration (M.H.A.) program. To be eligible, students must complete the advanced standing courses at NLU. Students should contact their Academic Advisor for details as certain rules apply.
