Teacher Credentials
Teacher licensure programs may meet credential requirements for states other than Illinois. Since specific requirements vary by state, students should obtain information from the state in which they plan to teach. Students may contact the Licensure Officer to look further into transferring the Illinois license into another state.
Students seeking licensure by entitlement will apply through NLU toward the end of their program. Students should not apply directly with the state unless advised to do so by the Licensure Officer.
Illinois law prohibits the licensure and/or employment of persons convicted of specific crimes. Students seeking an endorsement for professional licensure through NLU who have been convicted of one of the offenses identified by Illinois law may be ineligible for licensure or employment as a school professional.
