RN to BSN

Admission

Registered nurses with an associate degree in nursing (A.D.N.) must meet the R.N. to B.S.N. program and general entrance requirements of the University for transfer students as set forth in the Office of Admissions section of this Bulletin. In addition to the nursing major requirements, all students must complete all University Core Requirements before, during, or following the major program requirements.

Admission for students admitted to the R.N. to B.S.N. program is dependent upon:

  • Completion of an associate degree in nursing, or in the last year of a pre-licensure associate degree in nursing program;
  • Completion of the statistics prerequisite within the last five years and completed by the start of the second semester of the program;
  •  Having an active R.N. license by the start of the second semester of the program.

Degree Requirements

  • Completion of all University core requirements = 39 credits
  • Completion of all R.N. to B.S.N. major courses = 27 credits
  • Attain an average 3.0 G.P.A. for the program

  • Theology core course, THE 348 Suffering and Death, is taken at the University of Portland with the major requirements.
  • Courses are offered via hybrid method: greater than 50% online.
  • Because nursing is a dynamic field, the nursing curriculum is subject to change at the School of Nursing’s discretion.
