Quito, Ecuador
On this 6-week summer program, students will have the opportunity to enhance Spanish skills in the classroom and with a home stay family. Students will also learn about the cultures of Ecuador and other Latin American countries through readings and discussions in class, and program excursions that will explore the location surrounding Quito. Excursions include visits to Mitad del Mundo (equator), Otavalo (nearby indigenous city), Atacames (Coastal city), and a tour of the Ecuadoran jungle. All program activities will be done in Spanish. These excursions are part of the program expenses.
There is also a Fall option for seniors in Social Work to take their practicum in Quito. Students must have completed SPN 301 and SPN 302 or their equivalents and be majors in Social Work.
