Campus Ministry

Campus Ministry at the University of Portland provides opportunities for all members of the community to grow in awareness of God’s presence and God’s invitation to communion. For Christians this includes growing in the capacity to know, believe and live out the Good News of Jesus Christ. This flows from our grounding in the Catholic tradition inspired by the charism and spirituality of the Congregation of Holy Cross.

This mission is brought to life through a rich array of liturgies, retreats, faith-sharing groups, sacramental preparation, pastoral counseling and student leadership opportunities.

Campus Ministry's main offices are in St. Mary's Student Center. There is also a Campus Ministry office on the lower level of Orrico Hall and on the second floor of the Chapel of Christ the Teacher.

Chapel of Christ the Teacher

The Chapel of Christ the Teacher is the principle place for worship on campus and is open for prayer and meditation to all members of the University community every day of the year.

Eucharist is celebrated every Sunday at 10:30 a.m., as well as 8:00 p.m. when classes are in session. Mass is also celebrated Monday-Friday at 12:05 p.m. Throughout the Church year, and especially in the privileged seasons of Advent, Lent, and Easter, appropriate liturgical services are planned to enhance the spiritual life of the University community.

Prayer and worship are the heartbeat of University life and students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate. Student musicians, singers, readers, and Eucharistic ministers are always needed in order for Campus Ministry to offer well-planned and prayerful liturgies, prayer services, and other worship activities.
