Professional Arts and Crafts Sculpture Clay

The Professional Arts and Crafts Sculpture Clay Certificate is designed to give students a strong foundation in ceramic art.  Students will learn a variety of clay working methods including wheel throwing, soft and hard slab construction, and coil and pinch techniques.  Students will demonstrate knowledge of ceramic raw materials, clay preparation, glazing, safety issues, kiln loading and kiln firing theory.  Upon completion, students should independently produce clay art in a professional craft studio, work for an existing professional craftsman, or obtain employment in pottery related retail sales.
