Dance Minor
A Dance minor provides students in any field an opportunity to engage in a range of dance experiences that: 1) contribute to the liberal education of students regardless of their major, 2) will be applicable to graduate study or professional work in a variety of fields, such as performance, therapy, education, journalism, or cultural studies, and 3) provide a basis for lifelong learning and personal development. The Dance minor is designed to be flexible and to accommodate each student’s interests and goals.
The purpose of the Dance minor is to develop: understanding of the principles and concepts of Dance as a discipline; basic technical skill in at least two dance forms such as modern dance, jazz dance, folk dance, ballet, or social dance; creative ability; and capacity to apply dance in educational, recreational, or other professional settings.
