* RS-997 and RS-998 are 0 credit courses; however, trainees pay for 1 credit for the semesters they are enrolled beginning in the 5th year of study. RS-997 and RS-998 enrollees are coded as full-time trainees.
CRITERIA AND EXPECTATIONS FOR
Who are PhD Rehabilitation Science (PhD RS) Program Faculty?
Role description: PhD Rehabilitation Science (PhD RS) Program Faculty may be: 1) Current IHP faculty with primary appointments in other departments/schools or 2) Faculty at collaborating institutions, some of whom have Adjunct faculty appointments. Together, the PhD RS Program Faculty are committed to conducting research in health and rehabilitation related fields and dedicated to mentoring the next generation of health and rehabilitation scientists. Typically, PhD RS Program Faculty have background and formal training (e.g., PhD, ScD, EdD) in clinical research, health services research, biostatistics, or research methodology, and are engaged in an active program of clinical research.
Criteria for appointment as PhD RS Program Faculty:
• Formal research training with terminal research degree (e.g., PhD, ScD, EdD)
• Active program of clinical research, with ongoing projects (funded or unfunded) on a path to funding
• Interest in mentoring PhD RS trainees (experience preferred, not required)
Opportunities as PhD RS Program Faculty:
• Open doors for interprofessional scholarly collaboration
• Provide service to the IHP and PhD RS program that catalyzes your research agenda and goals
• Develop mentoring skills and experience
• Engage more actively in the IHP’s intellectual community
• Build skills toward assuming role as a Research Mentor for PhD RS trainees
• Cultivate the next generation of health and rehabilitation scientists
Responsibilities as PhD RS Program Faculty:
Contribute to the evolution of a scholarly culture at the IHP by:
• Regularly attending PhD RS faculty meetings
• Serving on trainee qualifying exam and dissertation committees, as requested
• Attending Interprofessional Doctoral Seminar, when trainee is presenting or when topics are of interest
• Presenting research or participating in professional development sessions in Seminar once every 2-3 years
Process for appointment as PhD RS Program Faculty:
• Discuss service in PhD RS Program with your Department Chair/leader to confirm their support
• Submit a CV to phd@mghihp.edu. Briefly describe your research expertise, scholarly/service goals, and current projects. Share the ways in which you would like to contribute to the PhD RS Program.
• Once approved by the Executive Committee, you will be added to the PhD RS Faculty list, PhD RS Trainee and Faculty Teams channel, and PhD RS Faculty distribution list(s) that announce Seminars, Faculty meetings/workshops, and Dissertation Defenses.
