PSY 101 Introduction to Psychology

This course explores the role of psychology in one’s personal life and how psychology can be used to better understand who we are as people and as a society. One of the best aspects of psychology is that you are the subject matter. A range of theoretical perspectives including biological, behavioral, evolutionary, cognitive, and social/emotional are discussed. Among the topics discussed are development, learning, memory, perception, motivation, social behavior, abnormal behavior, and therapy. These topics are explored academically and through the perspective of one’s culture. Also included is an introduction to the various careers associated with psychology. Pre-requisite(s): None. Co-requisite(s): None. 5 quarter hours
