Advising
Throughout a student’s time at UMHB, a student success advisor and faculty advisor will serve as a student’s advisor. Typically a student will begin their advising journey with a Student Success Coordinator (SSC) in their college and transition to a faculty advisor as they earn more college credit. Advisors genuinely care about students’ academic success and regularly meet with students to ensure their needs are met. The following are ways in which advisors may be of service to students:
- Establish a trusting, confident, working relationship with students
- Serve as a source for information related to a student’s major and path towards graduation
- Assist in selecting a major and choosing classes
- Assist in solving various academic concerns that arise
