Deferral of Admission

Though generally not permitted, deferral requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis and are approved only in extreme circumstances or military deployment. Deferral requests should be sent by email to the Office of Admission, who will in turn consult with the applicable program for consideration. Students requesting a deferral must take note of the following stipulations and procedures:

  1. Email admissions@mghihp.edu and request a deferral. Please indicate your reason for requesting a deferral within the email, along with your name, start term and program of study.
  2. Deferral requests are considered only for students that have submitted an enrollment deposit.
  3. All approved deferrals are valid until the next available start term, up to one year. After this time, all students who have not matriculated will be required to re-apply for admission.
  4. Once a deferral request is approved, the student will receive an email with instructions and requirements. Students who do not follow instructions and/or fail to notify the Office of Admission within the allotted time limit will forfeit their admission offer and deposit, and will be required to go through the application process again. Despite previous acceptance, there is no guarantee of acceptance to future start terms and/or programs.
  5. International students will be required to provide updated financial information in order to receive a valid I-20.
  6. Students admitted from the wait list are not eligible for a deferral of admission.
  7. Newly deposited students may be eligible to receive deferral approval one time only prior to enrollment in any given program.
  8. Students are not eligible to request or receive a second deferral.
