HBIO-452 Introduction to Biology 2

Prerequisites: HBIO-450 and HBIO-451or equivalent. The course examines evolutionary biology and the origin of the species and phylogenetic mechanisms; the evolutionary history of biological diversity of bacteria, single-cell organisms, fungi, plants, and animals. We analyze how animal form correlates to function.  Students examine principles of general physiology such as digestion, mechanisms of circulation of nutrients and gasses, the immune system, and renal, endocrine, reproductive, and nervous systems. Incorporates a required lab component that utilizes a lab kit purchased from eScience Labs that students will use to conduct hands-on experiments.
