HE-805 Sociology of HP Education

Prerequisites: None. Leading theories of sociology applied to HPEd are reviewed; students gain an understanding of the HPEd as a social process, the effect of changes in health profession practice on HPEd; and the ongoing debate surrounding the form and content of curricula. Students apply frameworks drawn from social theorists in order understand the profession, organizations, and socialization processes in order to inform future sociological study of health profession education and for the health professions themselves.
