HUMA 2355 Humanities: Foundings
Socratic seminar that offers readings of great texts from roughly a hundred years before Christ up through Sr. Augustine’s time. The course will examine parallels and tensions between early Roman and Christian worldviews. Likely readings would include selections from the New Testament, Lucretius, Cicero, Ovid, and church fathers including St. Augustine. For motivated students who are willing to undertake a demanding reading workload. Prerequisites:
ENGL 1321,
ENGL 1322;
CSBS 1312 (or concurrent enrollment) This course will satisfy 3 hours of the ENGL literature requirement.
