SLP 508 Anatomy & Physiology of the Communication & Swallowing Mechanisms with Lab

Study of the neural basis of swallowing, respiration, phonation, resonation, and articulation.  Review of the anatomical and physiological structures that undergird communication as well as swallowing.  The lab includes practical application of the structures and function to communicate and swallowing.  of nature and causes of fluency and fluency disorders. Topics include, analyses of current theories and research concerning stuttering and cluttering. This course includes development of a rationale for diagnosis, case selection, and intervention. The lab will integrate the practical application of theoretical knowledge.
