Earnings

The earnings of medical assistants vary, depending on their experience, skill level, and location. Median annual wages nationally of wage-and-salary medical assistants were $28,860 in May 2010. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $20,810, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $40,190.

 

Medical assistants held about 527,600 jobs in 2010. Most of these worked in physicians' offices and other healthcare facilities. More than half worked in physicians' offices.
