Computer support specialists held about 863,100 jobs nationally in 2018. Although they worked in a wide range of industries, about 20 percent were employed in the computer systems design and related services industry. Employment of computer support specialists is expected to increase by 10 percent from 2018 to 2028, faster than the average for all occupations. More support services will be needed as organizations upgrade their computer equipment and software.
