Hazardous Weather
Athens Technical College uses the RAVE Emergency Alert system to disseminate critical safety information, to include weather closures and campus safety notices, to staff and students via email, voice, and text messaging. Staff and students will be automatically enrolled for email messaging using their Athens Technical College provided email accounts. Additional services, such as text and phone alerts, are “opt-in” and must be set up by going to https://www.getrave.com/login/athenstech. On initial login, subscribers will use their ATC provided email address as their user name, and select “Forgot your password”. Subscribers will receive set up instructions to that email account. New accounts should be accessible in RAVE within 1 week of email accounts being active. This is a free service.
RAVE will only send critical safety and weather alerts. It will not be used for marketing or any other purpose.

Since Athens Technical College serves a large geographic area and since conditions may vary on occasion in areas outside of Clarke, Elbert, or Walton counties, students should use their own judgment regarding travel conditions. In case of hazardous weather (tornados or severe thunderstorms), campus personnel will provide notification. When possible, the college will post closings on its website.
The emergency action plan posted in each classroom and laboratory recommends the actions that members of the college community should take to protect their safety and welfare. The plan displays the locations of the safest areas on campus.
