HIS 224 20th Century World History
Prerequisite: GSTR 110 (or waiver)
This course is an examination of major world developments from 1900 to 2000. Topics include colonialism; the two World Wars; political experimentation in the interwar years; the Cold War; the demise of political imperialism; nation-building in Africa, Asia, and South America; globalization; the fall of Soviet-based communism; and challenges to nationalism and the nation-state, including the rise of political regionalism, environmental sustainability, human rights, and terrorism.
