MUS 216 Perceptive Listening to Music
Offered: Typically as student interest and faculty availability allow
A study of one or more of the arts, or of a particular medium, in a cultural, cross-cultural, or historical context. Attention will be given to form, structure, style, and other critical considerations. The course will have a research component. The primary focus of this course is the enhancement of the joy of listening to music through the development of music-listening skills in the framework of perceiving and understanding musical information. Emphasis on the attentive style of listening, the elements of music, and the variety of musical styles will be the three areas used to develop such a framework. Arts Perspective. 1 Course Credit
