BUS 357 International Finance (ECO)

Prerequisite: ECO 101

This course focuses on the theory and practice of international macroeconomics and finance. Great emphasis will be put on policies, empirical and theoretical analyses, and institutional considerations. The unifying theme for all the topics considered in this course is Exchange rate. Therefore, a great deal of time will be spent on issues such as models of exchange rate determination and empirical evidence on exchange rate determination models. These tools will be used to analyze issues such as Balance of payments and balance of payments adjustment models, monetary unions, the role of monetary and fiscal policies in an international setting, financial crises, macroeconomic policy targets. We will examine these issues both for poor and rich countries.
