HHP 201S Human & Animal Interaction

This course will focus on engaging students in experiential activities which will enhance their knowledge, skills and aptitude for caring for companion animals in contemporary society. Specific emphasis includes exploring animal behavior amongst the increasingly diverse range of companion animals and discussing animal welfare concerns of contemporary society. Research emphasis also includes the interactive effects on human health and performance, specifically the therapeutic effects of human companion animal interactions and accompanying physical performance facilitated through interactions. The course will allow students to meet their degree requirements for Active Learning Experience (ALE). Prerequisites for this course are ANR 110 Animal Sciences, or Bio 110- Modern Biology or GSTR110 Writing Seminar 1: Critical Thinking or instructor approval.
