NUR 110 Certified Nurse Aide Prep.

This course provides an introduction to health care and the provision of hands-on nursing care for older adults. The student will learn the knowledge, and skills of the certified nursing assistant. This includes: bathing, personal care, assistance in eating, assisting persons to move and turn, interpersonal and communication skills, safety, body mechanics, measuring vital signs, and other skills required of nursing assistants or aides. The successful student will be prepared to take the Kentucky Nurse Aide certification exam. This course is appropriate for any student interested in nursing or other allied health professions. NUR 110 is a prerequisite for NUR 341. Students interested in nursing as a major must pass the KY state nurse aide certification exam prior to starting NUR 342. NUR 110 may be waived if students provide validation of a current unencumbered state nurse aide certification.
