HIS 126 Traces of the Global Past I
This course gives an overview of world history from the development of agriculture to circa 1500. In addition to studying to rise and fall of ancient and medieval empires, we will examine how social and political structures impacted everyday life and explore the diversity of human cultures in terms of, but limited to, religion, literature, family structures, and ideas about gender. In addition to looking at the development of different societies from a
comparative perspective, this course examines moments of confrontation and interaction, emphasizing points of commonality and connection in the premodern world. World Culture (Western) component of the International Perspective.
