DANC-282 Ballet IV

This course is a continuation of DANC-281, Ballet III, at a higher level of proficiency. A continued study of classical ballet technique with emphasis on the progression of technical complexities, contemporary ballet stylization, and musicality. Continuation of pointe work and partnering technique for total comprehension to the performance of classical ballet.

Course Objectives

  1. 1. Explain key French ballet terms in class and in written assignment(s)/examination(s) on an
    intermediate/advanced level.
  2. 2. Demonstrate the process of sequencing ballet material through daily attendance and performance in
    class.
  3. 3. Perform ballet movements demonstrating increasing sensitivity to musicality.
  4. 4. Communicate in a written critical analysis a dance concert.
  5. 5. Explain the origin of pointe technique.
  6. 6. Continued strengthening lower body for pointe technique.
  7. 7. Demonstrate consistency in proper body alignment for pointe technique.
  8. 8. Demonstrate basic skills for partnering.
