AST 38103 American Nature Writing

Students will study the strategies of nature writing. Students will cull a descriptive style and vocabulary from seasoned nature writers and visit sites to provoke or stimulate subject matter. The class members will discuss the importance of the genre and hone their own skills as they delve into the natural mysteries of the pristine areas such as the Boone Campus, Creve Coeur Lake, the Katie Trail, and other possible local areas. This course is especially attractive to those who wish to elevate their perceptions and become one with nature, away from the noise, hubbub, and restrictions of a traditional classroom.
