PHS 35000 Historical Context of Public Health Disease Prevention and Health Promotion

Over the last century, life expectancy in the U.S. increased by about 30 years. Five of those years were due to improvements in curative medicine and health care. The remaining 25 years were due to improvements in public health and preventive medicine. This course provides an overview of the most significant public health interventions throughout the last 100 years and uses these interventions to develop strategies for current public health practice.
