REL 32200 Catholic Identity in the Modern World

The Catholic tradition is one of the oldest and most influential traditions within the Christian religion. This course will provide students with the opportunity to engage the breadth and depth of this tradition, while also thinking critically about how Catholicism has shaped and been shaped by modern Western culture. The course will examine such topics as the Pope, the sacraments, the relationship between nature and grace, the history of the Catholic church, Catholic spirituality, and Catholic social teaching.

ENGL 17000 or HIST 16200 or three credit hours of philosophy (PHL 10200 or higher) or three credit hours of religion (REL 15000 or higher) or permission of the department chair.
